It is very important to inflate your fender to the correct size. Over or under-inflating your fender will affect the overall effectiveness of your fender and the protection of your boat and affect the fitting of your new fender covers.
The guide provided here will ensure proper fit and avoid returns on product due to improper inflation of your fenders.
To ensure PERFECT fit of your new fender covers Maine Coast Marine Products recommends that you slightly deflate your fender, fit the cover onto the fender and then re-inflate the fender based on your fender manufacturers specifications. If this information is not readily available to you, we would recommend inflating to a maximum of 2 PSI.
It is VERY IMPORTANT not to over-inflate your fenders. Inflating above the manufacturers specifications will reduce effectiveness and may cause premature failure of your fenders.
How do you know if your fender is OVER-INFLATED?
The sides will bow out and the ends will become rounded as a result of being over-inflated.
This information is to be used as a general guide. Common sense and understanding your boat and docking conditions must also be considered. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure proper steps are taken due to so many variables, Maine Coast Marine Products cannot be held responsible for improper fitting measurements.
